Our Curriculum
Foundations for a Lifetime of Learning
Music Together:
Ages 3 and below:
For all our students below the age of 3 we offer our Music Together Classes. These classes are a mommy and me style environment, where a guardian can bring their young ones in and experience Music in a safe environment. It teaches through creative movement and song, the different elements, such as tempo and tone, needed for a good base in music and dance.
Creative Movement: Learning through Play
From Ages 3-5, children learn the fundamentals of ballet through creative play.
Movement props, music and imagery games are utilized to encourage learning and the joy of dance. Correct ballet terminology, positions and basic movements are learned in a fun and interesting classroom environment. We also integrate literature into the curriculum through kinesthetic (movement) learning.

Ballet For the Young Child: Building on the basics
From Ages 6-8, training begins to take on more of an academic structure. The transition from the younger classes into a traditional class structure is gradual and allows for creativity and play in the younger classes. Each level builds upon learning from the previous year. The environment is friendly and nurturing while recognizing each student's creative talents. As students progress through these elementary years, they are schooled in classical technique as well as disciplines such as dress code and classroom etiquette. Our syllabus ensures that vocabulary, musicality, technical skill, and artistry are taught in a planned squential manner. Children thrive in the ongoing educational challenges while simultaneously growing in the love of dance. Most students will spend about 2 years in each level at this point, and will progress through the levels upon their teacher's recommendation.
It is also at this point that our students will take part in an annual evaluation. This is where the teacher will evaluate the students progress to see where they are at, and the parents and student will have a one on one conference with our Ballet Director. We and many of our parents have found this to be a very useful review for the well-being of our students.
Also like in any quality school, we strongly recommend that beginning around age eight, students take at least 2 ballet classes weekly to receive maximum benefit.
Intermediate Study - Advanced/Pre-Professional:
Advancing, Preforming, and Perfecting
We pay particular attention to the young dancer's changing body that deserves only the finest and most proper instruction. As students progress into advanced levels, they have the opportunity to study daily in pre-professional training. Our most advanced students study 3 - 6 times a week, classes include daily ballet, technique, pointe, contemporary technique, classical variations, and character. Many of our advanced students also work as Assistant Teachers, which prepares them for future careers in dance education. It is in these levels that we require on our students of atleast 2 ballet classes per week. Pointe work usually begins sometime during a student's intermediate study, and is based completely on how prepared their feet are to technique.
Our students have been accepted into top summer programs through the country as well as several prestigious year-round programs. Click here to view some of our students many achievements.
